DESCRIPTION: Length up to 11mm. A distinctive Squashbug with a sandy to mid-brown ground color, a dark eyestripe and pale edges to the base of the corium. There is usually a pale stripe on top of the head between the eyes and the wing membrane shows dark veining. The underside of this insect is usually paler than the upperside. BEHAVIOUR: Adults mate in spring and the larvae feed on a variety of herbaceous legumes such as Clovers and Vetches. DISTRIBUTION: A localised species mainly confined to Southern and Central England. HABITAT: Dry open areas such as grasslands and sand dunes and also gravel pits. PERIOD:Adults can be seen all year round but are best looked for in the warmer months.
